In this classic broadcast, Adya invites us to inquire within to see what drives us in our spiritual quest for awakening. He suggests we look to see if our spiritual impulse is coming from an orientation of wholeness or the ego’s desire to attain something. Pointing out that when our spiritual impulse is co-opted by the egoic, divided mind of desire, we are pulled into that division and away from an orientation of wholeness. He notes that even after great spiritual transformations, only the orientation toward wholeness is powerful enough to see through the trance of ego.

Quotes from this Download:
“Everybody has had the experience of having one part of their mind, one thought, opposed to another thought, and as long as our spiritual quest is coming from the mind, coming from the ego, then it just goes in circles.”
“The ultimate egoic orientation is always moving toward—toward what I want, what I hope will happen. Whereas the orientation of wholeness calls into the question one’s whole sense of self.”
“When you start to orient yourself toward wholeness, you’re always orienting yourself toward right here and right now. You’re not being deceived by the divided mind’s egoic state—if the mind goes into division and goes into egoic trance, then you’re immediately questioning that trance.”
“Awareness has the ability to penetrate very, very deeply because it’s not oriented toward a goal. It’s not oriented toward problem solving—if anything, it wants to understand the problem, to understand how it is that the mind is turning a moment into a problem.”
